Archaeologists are waiting for money from Dyankov!? – 2024-03-10 10:52:53

/ world today news/ Archaeologists and mayors are waiting for the money promised by Simeon Dyankov for excavations. The season of scientists is in limbo as it is unclear which of them will be able to dig due to the mystery of the missing finances.

A difficult archaeological summer is shaping up for the Valley of the Thracian Rulers in Kazanlushko, in which BGN 3.5 million had to be invested. Nearly a million of them were planned for field research for part of the 10 Thracian mounds. They were to outline the first cultural-historical route in the Valley of the Kings and in the region. “Shortly before the resignation of the government, I received an official letter from the Minister of Culture, Vezhdi Rashidov, with confirmation that, together with Via Pontika, this will be one of the priority sites of the government,” announced the mayor of Kazanlak, Galina Stoyanova. However, everything was stopped after that.

The mayor of Kardzhali, Hassan Aziz, has taken on the same difficult mission. The reason – the promised but missing BGN 250,000 for excavations and BGN 1 million for the “Wonders of Bulgaria” project for Perperikon. “Until 2 months ago, everything looked absolutely rosy. After 4 governments and 14 consecutive years of work, we are at the end of the studies of the Acropolis of Perperikon. If funds are not found, the sites will remain in the hands of treasure hunters and the natural elements,” comments Prof. Nikolay Ovcharov.

The “Via Pontica” megaproject is also in question.
