Aragon accelerates vaccination by opening agendas for the youngest – Comarcas

Aragon is going to accelerate the vaccination schedule against COVID-19, so that starting today, young people between 18 and 21 years old and those between 30 and 31 years old, who can already schedule their vaccination through of the self-citation system. Thus, the community will combine vaccination in the upper age ranges that were pending immunization with those of younger age, so that at the end of July all Aragonese over 18 years of age will already have at least one dose. People aged 60 to 67 years who were waiting for the second dose of Astrazeneca will be able to advance it to 8 weeks from their first dose

The Department of Health has made this decision by considering vaccination as the best tool to fight against the current increase in coronavirus cases, much more pronounced in the young population. Thus, the age group from 20 to 24 years old registers an incidence of 1,111 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last seven days, compared to 155 in Aragon overall. However, the incidences in the age ranges between the vaccinated population and those with complete immunization are between 30 and 40 cases per 100,000 inhabitants at 7 days.

In this way, the planned calendar is modified, increasing the age groups foreseen for this week, which go from the four initially foreseen (30 to 33 years) to eight (30 to 33 years and 18 to 21 years).

This is how those born from 2003 to 2000, who add a total of 54,885 Aragonese and to whom Pfizer, Moderna and Janssen will be offered, and those born in the years 1990 and 1991, which bring together a total of 29,737 people, are open to the self-appointment today and to which Pfizer and Moderna will be offered.

Second dose of Astrazeneca

In addition, the department has also decided to reinforce as soon as possible the complete immunization of people between 60 and 67 years old who were awaiting the second dose of Astrazeneca, so that in the next few days they will be able to advance their second appointment to schedule it from the 8 weeks from the first dose (until now it was administered from 12 weeks). Around 40,000 Aragonese will be able to advance this second dose from next Wednesday.
