Appointments are mandatory for H&M, Mango, Ikea and Co.? That will probably change now when shopping

Our editors asked around and wanted to know from dealers whether customers would accept the concept. Opinions on this vary widely. Some find it good, others less helpful.

Many consumers in particular make a fatal mistake with the time window and fall into an understanding trap. “When customers have an appointment between 11 a.m. and 12 noon, many don’t come until 11.45 a.m. and wonder why they only have 15 minutes,” says Bernd H., who runs a bookstore in Ludwigshafen. Many would not understand that the information is a fixed time – and not a guide value.

In Koblenz a jeweler on the phone said: “Friday, at 4.30 p.m. I have an appointment free.” He added: “You have to be in the store by 4:30 pm and then have 45 minutes.” Mobile phone number and name should be provided.

According to the first position paper, H&M, Mango, Douglas, Mömax, Zara or Ikea should be able to offer appointments for customers from Monday, March 8th. H&M and Zara have already activated such online booking tools in Spain and Greece. According to the plans, which will be discussed on Wednesday, one customer should be able to shop at a given time for every 40 square meters of sales area.
