‘More major films on Apple TV Plus soon’

In comparison with Netflix and Amazon Prime Video has Apple TV Plus still a fairly sparse offer. Movie buffs in particular have to look hard to find something nice. Apple currently only makes 10 to 12 movies a year, while Netflix releases a big new feature film every week. In order to better compete, Apple therefore wants to produce more of its own films for TV Plus.

That writes The Information. Apple has hired Jesse Henderson to oversee the new productions. Henderson previously worked for competitor HBO Max, who may come to the Netherlands later this year. It is not yet known what kind of films we can expect on Apple TV Plus.

Despite attracting well-known names such as Justin Timberlake and Jennifer Aniston, Apple TV Plus has yielded few memorable titles. Ted Lasso, about an American who is going to coach a British soccer team, is actually the first series from Apple to count on universal praise.

Apple is still giving TV Plus away for free

Apple TV Plus is quite cheap compared to most competitors. You normally only pay 4.99 euros per month. If you buy an iPhone, iPad, Apple TV or Mac, you can even watch for free for a year. This one trial subscriptions to Apple TV Plus have also been renewed twice.

That seems to mean that Apple itself is not satisfied with the current offer. Perhaps the corona crisis has slowed production of new content. By renewing trial subscriptions for free, Apple hopes to potentially keep current customers on board. Do you still want to leave the service? We explain how to Cancel Apple TV Plus.
