LG keeps its promise made at the start of the year: the manufacturer has start delivery of the Apple TV app for its connected TVs! These are the 2019 models that are served first, for viewers from 80 countries.
They will be able to find Apple TV + programs (including Mythic Quest as of this Friday), their iTunes / Apple TV video library, as well as series and movies from the iTunes Store. LG indicates that it is possible to subscribe to Apple TV channels (including Apple TV +) from the application, but it is likely that you have to go through an Apple platform beforehand – this is the case for example with the Apple TV app on Fire TV.
LG 2019 TVs also support AirPlay 2 as well as HomeKit. The models compatible with this small world, including the Apple TV app, are the following: OLED, NanoCell (SM9X and SM8X ranges), as well as the UM7X and UM6X ranges a little later in February. The manufacturer says that the 2020 models will ship Apple TV as soon as they are launched, while the 2018 stations will receive an update over the air later this year.
