Apple removes appliance control feature for millions of devices

A new feature in one of Apple’s biggest apps has mysteriously disappeared after users complained about the problems, as the iPhone maker recently introduced a new home app architecture designed to make everything work better.

To reap the benefits, all devices within Home must be updated to the latest version.

But people who have tried to do so seem to have been affected by the problems, according to MacRomores.

Among them is a locked toolkit that says “update” or “configure”.

Others claim that HomeKit devices are completely gone.

Inviting people to check out your stuff is also said to have failed.

“This kicked my whole family out of my house and I’m having trouble getting them back,” said one user on Reddit.

Since the complaints were made, the update has mysteriously disappeared.

But not everyone has the same problem.

The same people say they updated just fine.

It was an optional process that you had to go through yourself the software update portion of the home page settings.

So anyone hoping to upgrade will have to wait for Apple to bring them back.

Those who have already set it up – no problem – should be able to continue as normal.

The home page changes were introduced with iOS 16.2, iPadOS 16.2, and macOS Ventura 13.1.
