Last month the popular DJ battle format Verzuz teamed up with both Apple and Twitter to give the show a new twist. While the show continues to air on Instagram, Apple Music has partnered with the show’s creators to produce new episodes. Now Apple Music content boss Larry Jackson speaks out, who is very satisfied with the new partnership.

Verzuz bei Apple Music

Verzuz is an Instagram live series founded by Timbaland and Swizz Beatz in which two musicians from the hip-hop or R&B genre compete against each other in a musical friendship competition.

After the format has teamed up with Apple Music and Twitter, Larry Jackson, Apple Music Head of Content, speaks about the new partnership:

“I think Tim and Swizz were extremely excited about what we could offer – 1080p high definition video and high fidelity audio, coupled with something we’ve never done at Apple, which is the social interface Networking.

These type of shows tend to be a linear video stream with no social engagement in the chat and it was really important to bring this element out. That’s why Jack [Dorsey, Mitbegründer und CEO von Twitter] Engaged the coding, tech, and design teams on Twitter to help us integrate it into the live broadcast. You are now seeing the manifestation of this work. “

Verzuz’s popularity has skyrocketed since its inception in mid-March, drawing more than 400,000 views per session. Artists who appear on the show also benefit from it – the streaming numbers of participants have increased by up to 300 percent.
