Apple’s next generation of iPhone, which is expected to be launched in the fall, should also support 5G. The 5G chips should be just as with the competitor Samsung, which already has 5G smartphones on the market, from Qualcomm come. The manufacturer’s 5G antennas are Apple but apparently not slim enough. According to Fast Company would have to come iPhones therefore be a little thicker. This is Apple an eyesore, which is why they are now working on their own 5G antenna.
Antennagate
Apple previously had with self-developed antennas not a good hand, however. At the iPhone 4 conversations abruptly ended when the device was held at the bottom. The went down in IT history as “Antennagate” and caused a lot of ridicule.
Apple trigger – according to the “Fast Company” source – the license fees Qualcomm pissed off. The iPhone manufacturer only launched last year a patent dispute with the manufacturer, but is also already working on its own 5G chips. For that was Intel’s Modem division taken over. When the in-house chips will be used is currently not foreseeable.
A decision which 5G antenna in the next iPhone is installed, according to the Fast Company, should fall before summer.
