Update Clips lets you take HDR videos with iPhone 12

Version 3.0 is the biggest update for Clips ever. The video editing app has a new, streamlined interface that makes it easier to access special effects. With that you brighten up your videos in a fun way. Moreover, it is possible to make vertical or horizontal videos on both the iPhone and the iPad. You can choose from several aspect ratios.

Have or will you soon have one iPhone 12? Then you can also shoot videos in HDR after the Clips update. This gives your videos nicer colors and better contrast. With eight new stickers and 25 new soundtracks, it’s easier than ever to personalize your movies. The music also automatically adjusts to the length of your videos.

If you’re using the app on your iPad, it will now open in landscape mode. The Clips update brings many new features to the tablet anyway. You can now edit your videos with a Apple Pencil. You can also use a keyboard and trackpad within the app. That makes operation a lot easier.

Apple’s response to Snapchat

Apple released Clips in 2017 to provide videos with all kinds of filters and effects in an easy way. It is therefore an answer to popular apps such as Instagram, Snapchat in TikTok. An important difference is that Clips itself is not a social network. So you share the videos you make with it in a different place.

Maybe that’s why Clips never really became a resounding success. After all, you have to go through several steps before you can share your video. With this update, Apple shows that it has not forgotten Clips. The new version can be downloaded from tonight.
