The iOS 14 operating system is said to bring numerous innovations for Apple devices. iPhone users can still enjoy the update even with the old model 6s.
Apple will also support many older device models with its new operating systems – but far from all of them. For example, the MacOS “Big Sur” can be made to work on MacBook Air and Mac Pro from 2013 onwards. The MacBook Pro must have devices from at least autumn 2013 – those from spring 2013 will fall out of the cover, as the company explains. A desktop computer iMac and the Mac mini, on the other hand, must be from 2014 for “Big Sur” and the MacBook from 2015.
According to “heise online”, however, some of the new functions required newer hardware. The digital car key only works on the iPhone XR or XS from 2018. The augmented reality function is also only supported by the 2018 models.

According to Apple, the free updates should appear in autumn, and a public beta version will probably be available for testing in July.
