Apple AirPods Studio: ANC over-ear headphones do not know right and left

In the past weeks there have been several speculations about the upcoming over-ear headphones with ANC from Apple, now there are new rumors about the functions of the headphones, which are expected to be called AirPods Studio.

How 9to5Mac AirPods Studio should be able to tell whether it is being worn or not. In contrast to the AirPods Pro (test), this should not be done via ear detection via infrared sensors, but several sensors in the AirPods Studio should detect whether the headphones were worn on the head or put down on the neck. With this recognition, it should also be possible for the ANC over-ear headphones that the playback pauses automatically when you put it down and continues when the wearer puts it back on. At the same time, the headphones should remain switched on when worn on the neck and should not switch off completely.

No more right and left auricles

In addition, the AirPods Studio is supposed to remove the classic division of the ear cups into the right and left by automatically recognizing how it was put on. With such a technology, users would no longer only have to pay attention to how to put on the headphones, but left-handers in particular could benefit, since headphones are usually designed for right-handed use with the arrangement of the control buttons. Apple would also have to do without adapting the ear cups to the respective head side and obliquely aligning the audio drivers in the ear cups.

Equalizer with Apple devices

In addition, the headphones should offer individual equalizer settings that are activated depending on the iOS or macOS device to which they are paired. However, it is not yet known whether this equalizer can be configured differently for each device and is automatically switched over.

Two models with leather and fabric

It is already known that the first over-ear headphones under the Apple brand should offer active noise reduction and a transparency mode. According to rumors, Apple is planning two different versions, with one model relying on leather and the other on fabric for the ear pads and headband. These components should also be magnetically attached to the bracket and should be easy to replace.

Rumors suggest the price of $ 349 for AirPods Studio.
