Antitrust, proceedings against Ryanair begin: “Restrictions on the sale of tickets for physical and online agencies”

MILANO – L’Antitrust formalizes the start of precautionary proceedings against Ryanair for “the restrictions” on the sale of low-cost airline flights by physical and online agencies “prejudicing the development of effective competition in the markets for the sale of tourist services, to the detriment of travel agencies and with negative effects on the well-being of consumers who use these operators”.

The war on airline tickets: Ryanair accuses eDreams and other agencies of “piracy”.

The Authority – we read in the Monthly Bulletin – has identified in this case “the requirement of periculum in mora for the purposes of adopting a precautionary measure, understood as the risk of serious and irreparable damage to competition, where Ryanair’s conduct – by hindering the sale of tickets by agencies – are irremediably compromising the competitive dynamics of the market”.

The proceeding was announced about ten days ago by Fto, the Organized Tourism Federation of Confcommercio.
