Two Jumbo stores in Bucharest were fined by the National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) with over 100,000 lei, and approximately 10,000 non-compliant products were withdrawn from sale.

ANPC announced on Thursday that checks were made in the Jumbo Pallady and Berceni stores in Bucharest.
“We asked Jumbo stores to open Greek language learning classes at the entrance to the mall. At least that way, the Romanian consumer can understand the labels. And if we’re talking about education centers, let’s prepare parents for first aid. There are also dangerous products for the little ones, but parents, once qualified, can provide assistance. Leaving aside the joke, they convey in Romanian the idea that we are European consumers, we have rights and we cannot be treated as second-class citizens! ” , said the president ANPCHoria Constantinescu.
10,000 products were withdrawn
Control teams found several violations, including: marketing of products without CE markings and lack of information on labels, misleading business practices, marketing of toys without information in Romanian on safety warnings and instructions for use, marketing of products dangerous.
Also, the ANPC commissioners established that cosmetics were sold without information in Romanian regarding safety warnings and instructions for use, various products without information in Romanian on labels and toys that imitate food products.
The two units were sanctioned by the Bucharest commissioners, for the detected irregularities, with 108,500 lei and a warning.
Also, the control teams issued decisions to stop the incorrect commercial practices and definitively stopped from sale the products found to be non-compliant – approximately 10,000 products, worth over 170,000 lei – during the control the activity of the two stores was suspended.
At the same time, the activity of the two stores was suspended until the deficiencies were remedied.
