NOORDWIJK –
Thanks to the warm temperatures it was another busy day on the coast. The parking spaces at the beaches of Katwijk, Noordwijk, Scheveningen and Wassenaar were completely full at their peak. Still, the municipality of The Hague is positive about how the day went: ‘A great beach day, which was manageable on all fronts.’

‘With the exception of a single minor incident, we all made it a great day at the beach. Incomparable with Friday a week ago, when traffic was really stagnant everywhere and residents of our coastal neighborhoods were crazy about all the search traffic that kept going round and round, ‘says Deputy Mayor of The Hague Hilbert Bredemeijer.
Many bathers came to the coastal towns early on to get a parking space at the beach. At the end of the morning, the traffic in Katwijk was not that bad, but in the course of the afternoon all parking spaces there too. Anyone who wanted to go to the beach on Friday was therefore advised to come by bike. Motorists going to Noordwijk could park elsewhere and then use a ‘beach shuttle’. At the Battle of Vlugtenburg near ‘s-Gravenzande, according to the municipality of Westland, no parking space could be found anymore. Beachgoers were referred to Slag Beukel and Molenslag bij Monster.
Parking spaces Reeuwijkse Hout limited
The municipality of Bodegraven-Reeuwijk limited the number of parking spaces at the Reeuwijkse Hout because of ‘the expected busyness due to the continuing heat’. “We notice that it is too busy,” wrote the municipality.
‘Non-compliance with the 1.5 meter distance on certain parts of the Reeuwijkse Hout was already a point of attention. With the expected increase in the number of visitors, this is expected to only become more difficult and the chance of new infections will only increase, ‘according to the municipality. The municipality continues to urge visitors to keep 1.5 meters away from other households.
