Another 1500 kilos of fireworks found in Poeldijk | Inland

4000 kilos of illegal fireworks were recently found on the same site. Two men were arrested in connection with this, a 30-year-old from Hagenaar and a 57-year-old man from De Lier.

So far this year, much more fireworks have been taken than in the entire previous year. The counter of the Public Prosecution Service currently stands at more than 160,000 kilos. In 2020, almost 123,000 kilograms were seized. This usually concerns fireworks that are prohibited in the Netherlands in any case, not consumer fireworks that may not be sold this year because of the fireworks ban.

The large amount this year is mainly due to the discovery of 120 tons of illegal fireworks just across the border in Germany, which was made public at the beginning of November. That was the largest firecracker catch by the Dutch police ever.
