There are important updates arriving on WhatsApp and for once the communication comes officially directly from the developers of the app. As anticipated on the company’s blog, over the next few weeks the instant messaging platform will be equipped with interesting features such as animated stickers and a new dark mode coming soon – after debuting on smartphones – also on the desktop version of the app and on WhatsApp Web.
The most important news for the daily progress of conversations is probably the one relating to animated stickers. As has been the case for a long time on the competitor Telegram, these elements of the chat resemble in all respects to the normal stickers, but as the name suggests they include are animated in repetition and can be used to liven up conversations with contacts or within groups.
For lovers of dark WhatsApp theme arrived several weeks ago on Android and iOS phones, the restyling is finally about to arrive on the platform website and on the app for Windows and macOS. In this way, the developers officially end their aesthetic renovation work on their product, which may be used on computers with the same graphic theme used on the phone.
Among the other updates coming soon, it is worth mentioning two more. The first is a new feature in the group calls that will allow focus on only one participant long touch on its video stream to view it in full screen; the second are gods QR codes internal to the app which, scanned with the smartphone’s camera, will allow new friends and acquaintances to join WhatsApp.
