Animal Crossing: there will be a Hellmann’s mayo island (for a good cause)


Hellmann’s, yeah, mayonnaise, built an island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons in order to convert players’ food waste into real food.

From August 15 until August 20, players ofAnimal Crossing: New Horizons can visit Hellmann’s Island to leave their spoiled turnips. In return, the brand will donate to Second Harvest, Canada’s largest food recovery charity, for every turnip donated. Hellmann’s is committed to providing a total of 25,000 meals to vulnerable communities across the country.

“Whether virtual or real, food seems too valuable to us to waste, and Hellmann’s is thrilled to partner again with Second Harvest to provide meals to Canadians in need,” says Gina Kiroff, Food Administrator. at Unilever Canada. “When we noticed that spoiled turnips are a real source of tension for many players ofAnimal Crossing, we wanted to use this observation to create a fun consuming experience that would have real-world repercussions. We hope that Hellmann’s Island is not only an amazing virtual experience, but that it inspires players to think differently about wasting food in real life. ”

Hellmann’s Island will open from 3 p.m. on August 17th. To access it, players will need to send a private message to Hellmann’s Canada sur Twitter in order to receive a Dodo Code in order to visit the island.

After dropping off your spoiled turnips, you can visit a few attractions on the island including Hellmann’s Farm, an outdoor kitchen, the Able Sisters store which will have Hellmann’s accessories and other fun activities.

It starts on Monday August 17th!
