Many of you will be familiar with the popularity of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the exclusive simulation title of Nintendo Switch; however, it is sometimes difficult to assimilate the unexpected impact this release has had on the industry.
Only in Japan, the title has already become the second best-selling title in all history, surpassing with its 7,500,000 units sold the popular Pokémon Gold and Silver, which has accumulated about 7,170,000 units.
The best-selling game in the history of Japan is still Pokémon Red, Green and Blue, which are counted as a single unit and have already accumulated 10,230,000 distributed units; although it wouldn’t be a surprise if Animal Crossing: New Horizons surpasses it at some point.
You can see the full list (with the exception that Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the second, not the third) below:
Animal Crossing: New Horizons becomes the 3rd all time best selling game in Japan, only behind the first 2 Pokémon games.
It became the best selling game on a single SKU, breaking the 30 year old record of the original Super Mario Bros.
