Anies Baswedan Opens Up About Meeting with Ganjar Pranowo in the Holy Land

Presidential candidate Anies Baswedan finally opened up about his meeting with Ganjar Pranowo in the Holy Land. Both are known to be performing the Hajj this year.

Anies admitted that when he met with reward During the Hajj pilgrimage, Pranowo did not specifically discuss politics.

“We worship together, only discussing the pilgrimage and worship. So the focus is on worship,” he said upon arriving from the Holy Land at Soetta Airport, Tangerang, Banten, Wednesday (11/7/2023).

He admitted that during the meeting with Ganjar he only discussed the implementation of the pilgrimage that pilgrims from Indonesia underwent.

“So it’s really the focus of worship. There’s nothing special,” he said.

He also mentioned that the meeting did not last long. In fact, on this occasion he met many other figures during the pilgrimage.

“Met a lot of people there, with lots of Indonesian people, as well as figures,” he said.

Then, during the peak of the grand haj pilgrimage, while staying at Arafah, Anies offered a special prayer so that Indonesia would avoid national divisions.

Thus, Indonesia’s diversity and differences are expected to become a force to become a developed nation and to make acquaintance with its people.

“We pray for all for my mother, family, community and even for Indonesia, hopefully this nation will be kept away from division. Hopefully it will be brought closer with unity and togetherness,” said Anies.

As stipulated in Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections (Election Law), the presidential and vice-presidential candidate pairs are proposed by political parties or a coalition of political parties participating in the election that meet the requirements of obtaining seats of at least 20 percent of the total seats in the DPR or obtaining 25 percent of the nationally valid votes in the previous parliamentary elections.

Currently, there are 575 seats in parliament so that the presidential and vice presidential candidate pairs in the 2024 Presidential Election must have the support of at least 115 seats in the DPR RI. In addition, candidate pairs can also be nominated by political parties or a combination of political parties participating in the 2019 Election with a minimum total of 34,992,703 valid votes.
