Angell, the French electric bike will be made in France by the Seb group

Focusing on lightness (13.9 kg), connectivity (integrated touch screen, etc.) and a design created by Ora-ïto, the Angell electrically assisted bicycle by Marc Simoncini and Jules Trecco has been on pre-order since its presentation in November 2019. The official website of Angell to date highlights a number greater than 2,000 pre-orders for this bike sold € 2,690. However, it seems that manufacturing is slow to start, since the first deliveries initially announced for May 15, 2020 are now indicated on July 31 at Fnac Darty. The Covid-19 health crisis has undoubtedly put some obstacles in the way of Angell, but everything could very quickly accelerate thanks to the arrival of a partner of choice: the Seb group.

A French production by Seb

As surprising as it may seem, the French appliance giant has just invested in Angell by acquiring a stake in its publishing company Zebra. It also becomes its exclusive industrial partner and will be responsible for the production of the Angell bicycle in its French factory in Is-sur-Tille (Côte-d’Or), previously responsible for the production of ActiFry fryers. The will of Marc Simoncini, co-founder of Angell, to produce in France and a good way to work with a group also present internationally.

Ambitious targets from 2020

Because Angell’s ambition is indeed to go beyond French borders and to assert himself as “a world leader in the urban smart-bike segment”, explains Marc Simoncini in the press release announcing this collaboration. He can then count on Seb to nibble a share of a market estimated at 10 billion euros, first producing 10,000 bikes this year, with a doubling of production from 2021.

An Angell / S female model for the end of the year

This arrival of Seb in the capital of Angell was made in the context of a fundraising, allowing to increase the capital by about 10 million euros. What especially accelerate international development and launch in December 2020 the Angell / S, a model with the same specifications as the Angell, but even lighter (12.9 kg) and more suitable for women.
