VideoShe has a job, an 11-month-old baby and (for now) a roof over her head. But as it looks now, Angelique (31) from Spijkenisse will be on the street with daughter Jaelynn from December 21. Her temporary lease is coming to an end, finding another home is simply not possible. She also does not receive an emergency declaration for social rent from the municipality. She’s at her wits end.

Angelique’s living room is already full of moving boxes. A large closet is half empty, next to it is a floor puzzle that baby Jaelynn is working on. Most of the residents have already left the flat they live in. Windows of many apartments are boarded up and sprayed with colorful graffiti.

The demolition of the building in the Spijkenisser Sterrenkwartier will start at the end of this month. Angelique feels abandoned by the municipality of Nissewaard and aid organizations. When the wrecking ball knocks over her house, she threatens to end up on the street. With a baby.

Angelique tells about the situation she ended up in.
