The Cuban humorist Andy Vázquez, interpreter of the popular character Facundo Correct in the program Live the story of the Cuban Television, assured Monday that it will not return to the Island “while there is” the regime in power.
In an interview from Miami on the show The Carlucho Show, from Univista TV, Vázquez offered for the first time details of his expulsion of the most popular television space on the Island, released last December, and that caused the rejection of the Cubans.
“My relationship with Cuba, like that of all Cubans who are watered by the world, will be eternal. What I do tell you is that as long as that Government exists, I do not return to that country,” he said.
According to Vázquez, the satire about the tumults caused by the opening of the Cuatro Caminos Market in Havana, which Television used as a pretext for its exit from the program, “bothered someone. They called me to tell some leaders of the ICRT,” said.
“They made me understand that someone was paying me for that. I am suspended from the contract. They tell me: ‘the contract is not going to be renewed.’ I never received any written penalty,” he said.

Vázquez, who by the time the censorship of his character was known was visiting the US, said he had traveled to that country to visit his son, who lives in San Antonio, Texas, and with whom he stayed for 12 days.
