André: ‘Thanks to timely intervention by doctors, I can continue for a while’

Fortunately, doctors were able to help the comedian in time and he has recovered after a considerable rehabilitation period. Yet his struggle is not over, he now wants to use his fame to help people: “It’s nice to be able to provide a bit of awareness with my fame. “Well, if that Van Duin does it, let’s Then follow the example,” people might think. At least, I hope so. Thanks to the timely intervention of my doctors, I can continue for a while.”

He continues: “My wish is that I stay healthy for a while, but I don’t have a long bucket list anymore. I don’t need skydiving anymore.”

It is therefore not for nothing that André bought the first copy of the book The Poop Doctor from Nienke Gottenbos. “Guts are the foundation for your health and are therefore very important. This book will help you keep your intestines in top condition.” she tells the newspaper.

Beyond his goal of raising awareness, the 74-year-old comedian now tries to enjoy every day. He does miss his husband, Martin Elferink, who passed away in January of 2020, enormously: “I try to seize the day as much as possible, although it does feel different, of course, because my husband is no longer there. I went with him to the cinema, the theater or to friends. I miss that enormously.”
