Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti has stated that Liverpool club owners have entered into talks with him to train the team, but in the end they have chosen Jurgen Klopp to take over, stressing that he fears Salah and Manny’s speeds.
“They are a great team in counter-attacks, and with the fact that our team played the League match with advanced defense, they made them cause a lot of problems with the balls from behind,” Ancelotti said in his remarks before confronting Liverpool next Sunday with the Federation Cup.
He continued: “This is one of the major problems, if you play with advanced defense, they attack wonderfully through Mane and Salah, in addition to players who have a wonderful ability to pass.”
He added: “This match is a risk. We are playing against the world champion, but it is a great challenge for us. He played the derby games in Rome and Milan, and I know for what degree these games are different.”
Ancelotti also revealed that Liverpool negotiated with him before Juergen Klopp took over in October 2015: “When I left Real Madrid, I entered into negotiations with the owner (of Liverpool).”
He continued: “They were looking for a new coach for the team, but I think they made the right decision to choose Jürgen (Club), he is doing a great job in Liverpool, so their choice was right.”
