StoreDot, an Israeli company specializing in the development of electric batteries for fast charging cars, presented a battery that can be fully charged in just 10 minutes, News.ro reports.
After a development process that lasted 3 years and involved the use of 5 patents related to cell design, StoreDot presented a prototype electric battery with cylindrical cells, which it says solves the safety and performance issues characteristic of this type of cell.
The prototype made by StoreDot uses the format 4680 – 46 millimeters wide, 80 millimeters long – a format preferred by electric car manufacturers such as Tesla.
Now, StoreDot is finalizing the mass production process, along with its chosen partner, the Chinese from Eve Energy. Mass production of the battery is expected to begin in 2024.
In parallel, the Israeli company is already negotiating with several car manufacturers who have shown interest in these batteries, which they hope will make the transition from internal combustion engines quickly.
The same Israeli company is working on XED (extreme energy density) technology, which should lead to the development of batteries with a longer life than at present. This technology will be ready to market in 2028.
StoreDot has so far received $ 130 million in investments, including Daimler AG, BP Ventures and Samsung Ventures.
