An ephemeral Covid-19 screening center is set up on Place des Epars, in Chartres

Until 4:30 p.m., this Monday, January 17, everyone can go to the screening center set up by the Sdis (Departmental Fire and Rescue Service) in order to detect, or not, a Covid-19 infection.

Managed in coordination with the Regional Health Agency, the tent is installed on the Place des Epars, in Chartres.

Access is free and without appointment. Patients must bring the vital card, an identity document and a mask.

The enthusiastic reactions of passers-by

The initiative seemed this morning very popular with passers-by. Michel Sozzi, contact case, came to check if he was negative before going to work:

“It’s fantastic to have this centre. I went to the Madeleine pharmacy and dozens of people were waiting!”

Many children accompanied by their parents are waiting to find out if they will be able to return to school. Three-year-old Souhane is on her second test in a matter of days. “It didn’t hurt him the first time,” says his mom.

Gaëlle Ménard holds Ilana, five years old, by the hand, who has also already experienced antigenic tests. Gaëlle argues: “There should be specific niches for children in pharmacies. We can’t leave them in the cold for too long”.

Anthony Molusson is also waiting for his turn. He will take his first dose of vaccine on Tuesday 18 and he came to be tested before.

The purpose of the operation? unclog

Jérémy Dupas is the coordinating nurse at the screening center in downtown Chartres. He explains: “The aim of this operation is to unclog pharmacies by offering a wide time slot (10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) which allows as many people as possible to be tested”.

Jérémy Dupas estimates: “Between 10 to 15% of people screened turn out to be positive”.

And the children?

With regard to children under three years old, they are admitted to screening but they are mainly redirected to self-tests, considered “less traumatic”, recalls Jérémy Dupas.

Children over three years old are tested like adults, but the three ARS agents have their own method to reduce the anxiety of the youngest: “We push the bottle brushes less far into the nose and we distract them with help from the parents”, explains the nurse.

An identical screening operation will take place on Thursday, January 20, still at Place des Epars de Chartres, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The tests will be free, you just need to present your vital card, an identity document and wear a mask.
