An entrepreneur from Louvain-la-Neuve offers customizable world maps for nostalgic globetrotters

In Louvain-la-Neuve, Alexis de Keyzer embarked on the creation of rather specific geographical maps. These are fully customizable. Customers can therefore freely imagine their paintings and make them 100% unique. For this entrepreneur, it is also a way to appease the nostalgia of globetrotters. The journalist Camille Oger from the newspaper DH Les Sports + came to talk to us about it this morning on the air.

Throughout the summer, the 7 regional stalls of Vivacité put the spotlight on the local press. RTBF offers you the perspective and the pen of journalists in the field, in Wallonia and Brussels within the framework of “#Restart”, the RTBF plan launched in support of culture and the media, sectors hard hit by the Covid 19 crisis.

To understand where the origin of this idea comes from, it is necessary to retrace somewhat the history of Alexis de Keyzer. “A few years ago he went on a trip and at that point he realized that he really wanted to make it his job. He thought a bit about a way to do it and so he decided to create giant world maps, which have the particularity of being completely customizable. So the customer can choose the color, the text, the material used, etc. It allows to have a unique world map “, relates the journalist.

Retrace an itinerary, paste symbolic photos of past trips, insert quotes from adventurers, incorporate old transport tickets,… Everything is possible, you just need to have a few ideas and voila. The customer orders his map of the world according to his wishes and ideas, and Alexis de Keyzer then does so. “He himself talks about a concept to help travelers who are nostalgic for their travels, so it’s really in the idea of ​​talking to travelers and those who love decoration because a map of the world is timeless. “, adds the journalist.

To make one, it takes between € 500 and € 3000. A substantial budget, of course, but the entrepreneur has also thought of smaller budgets: “he has an online store with maps of the world already made and there, we can count around fifty euros”, concludes the journalist.
