Thanks to donors and project supporters, the Freedom Monument Lighting Foundation under the leadership of architect Austra Mailītis has prepared an architectural concept and, attracting competent Latvian lighting technology artists, also a lighting technology project.

After the public discussion of the architectural concept, the work on the construction project in the minimum composition has been completed, which has been submitted for evaluation to the Riga City Construction Board in order to receive a building permit. At the same time, work on further development of the construction project and preparation for project implementation continues – designers are preparing an electricity network project, SIA “Labie koki” is researching the roots of trees near the monument so as not to damage the green area around the Freedom Monument.

It is already known that in support of the lighting of the Freedom Monument, the lighting supports will be manufactured by Technopali North Europe.

The fund has so far received donations in the amount of 61,334 euros, as well as state co-financing in the amount of 100,000 euros. Certified estimators estimate that the total cost of the project, including design, will be around € 356,000. The lighting of the Freedom Monument, by installing lighting for the image of Freedom and the sculptural ensemble of the monument, is planned to be performed by November 18, 2021.
