an asteroid risks hitting Earth on the eve of the US elections

The year 2020 still prepares us for surprises. An asteroid is currently heading straight towards our blue planet. Explanations.

This new information can indeed cause panic, especially with the special year we are living. With the Covid-19 health crisis, and other events like Black Lives Matter, many of you may think that the year 2020 is just a joke. Well no.

This time, a new danger would be on the horizon: an asteroid would head straight for planet Earth. And this is not the first time. Remember, on August 16, 2020, a car-sized asteroid brushed past us at a distance of about 3,000 kilometers. Crazy isn’t it?

But don’t panic, if it might stress a few, this time the asteroid in question named 2018VP1, is considered small. It measures 2 meters by 91 centimeters and according to NASA, it would weigh about 15 kilos. So in the end, not too much to worry about. Due to its shape and size, if the asteroid were to enter the atmosphere, it would likely disintegrate and do no damage.

If this news made more than one react, it is in particular because of the date on which it should crash or graze the Earth. According to Center for Near Earth Objects Studies du Jet Propulsion Laboratory from NASA, the celestial object should approach the Earth on November 2, 2020. Completely normal date according to you? Well not for everyone. Indeed, it corresponds to the eve of the presidential elections across the Atlantic. Hello Donald Trump, hello Joe Biden.

We can read on social networks:

As if that was not enough for 2020, an asteroid may strike the Earth on November 2 … eve of the presidential election in the United States

Well, we didn’t leave the hostel!

According to the calculations of theEuropean Space Agency (ESA), there is a 1 in 240 chance that the asteroid will reach us, compared to a 1 in 193 chance as announced last June.

So, do you think this is a sign?
