The Royal Netherlands Marechaussee last night arrested a 65-year-old Amsterdammer on suspicion of human smuggling in Den Helder. He transported six Albanians in his sailing yacht. Which the Marechaussee reports on Facebook.
The sailing yacht caught the eye on a Coast Guard patrol ship, because it sailed in an unusual location and with the wrong lighting near Den Helder. At other border checks by the Marechaussee, a 25-year-old Libyan and two Albanians aged 23 and 31 were also found yesterday in IJmuiden and in Hoek van Holland. All arrested migrants enter the immigration process, says the Marechaussee. This means that it is checked whether there is an asylum application, followed by deportation if necessary.
