Record in junior category
Thrissur: Thrissur resident Amrita P won double gold in youth and junior categories in the National Weightlifting Championship in Arunachal Pradesh. Suni. He won the national record in the junior category. A new record was set by lifting 178 kg in the junior 87 kg category in the clean and jerk categories. The current record is 174 kg. 16-year-old Amrita Suni has bagged 11 national medals and one international medal in the last three-and-a-half years. A native of Thrissur Cherur and a former national champion, P.S. She is the daughter of Suni and Rajita.
Earlier in the championship, Abhirami P. in senior category 59 kg. Mathew and Anjana Sreejith won bronze in junior category 81 kg.
