Amr Adeeb responds to critics following acquisition of Saudi citizenship: ‘I am proud’

Dubai United Arab Emirates (CNN)-The Egyptian journalist who holds Saudi citizenship, Amr Adeeb, sparked an interaction among activists on social media following a blog post in which he responded to those criticizing his acquisition of Saudi citizenship.

This came in a post by Amr Adeeb on his page on the X platform (formerly Twitter), in which he said: “Again, you will tell me that I am Saudi, yes, I am Saudi and I am proud.. I took Israeli citizenship. I take the citizenship of the country of the Two Holy Mosques, the citizenship of the country that embraces millions of Egyptians, the citizenship of the government that does not abandon Egypt or Any Arab country..

He continued, saying: “And then nationality is its money, the money of truth is its money, the money of loyalty is its money, and the money of progress and advancement… I am a Saudi-Egyptian Arab Muslim and I am proud and it is enough to waste time on things we do not need… Our Arab world needs us and our homelands also need us.”

Amr Adeeb had announced that he had obtained Saudi citizenship, in addition to his Egyptian citizenship, last November, thanking Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz and his Crown Prince, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and said in the “Al-Hekaya” program that he presents on the “MBC Misr” channel: “Recently, some time ago, I was granted Saudi citizenship… Now I am a citizen with Egyptian and Saudi citizenship… I would like to extend my thanks to His Majesty King Salman, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for this honor and honor.”
