In summer 2021, the global medical technology company Olympus moved into its new headquarters for the EMEA region and for Olympus Germany in the heart of Hamburg. The new building offers space for more than 1,200 employees on 11 floors and an area of 35,000 square meters. In order to promote forms of hybrid and collaborative work, Olympus relied on modern AV media technology in the new office building.

On this basis and on macom’s media technology planning, the Amptown Systems Company equipped different room variations: training rooms, meeting and conference rooms, an auditorium and rooms for personal exchange. There are also four central areas that are intended to promote cross-departmental exchange and creative work and were co-designed by employees.
Organization via Crestron
Crestron is used as the central media control system. It networks the devices in the rooms and takes over the transmission of the audio and video signals via the Crestron Digital Media System and its components. A mobile control app was integrated to enable free movement in the room and simultaneous control of the media systems.
A highlight was the equipment of different work areas with Microsoft Surface Hubs 2S of the latest generation and the integration of these into the AV media system. According to Amptown, the Olympus Campus project is one of the largest Surface Hub rollouts in Europe in the past year. In addition to the 50-inch models, the latest 85-inch versions were also used here.

Special rooms were added to the collaboration locations: for example, the Olmypus Medical Training Center, showrooms and the auditorium were equipped with media technology.
The central element in the auditorium, which is designed for around 140 people, is the video wall consisting of 3 x 3 frameless 55-inch displays from Barco’s Unisee series. Two additional 85-inch Samsung displays integrated in the rear side walls of the auditorium are used for the additional transmission of image content. PZT cameras and ceiling microphones mounted on the ceiling provide the necessary video and audio signals for video conferences.
On schedule despite Corona
Additional large-format displays and an innovative presentation system were used in the medical showroom for OR integration solutions.
Despite pandemic conditions, media integration throughout the building was completed on time. According to Amptown, the good cooperation between all trades made a particular contribution here.
