Land of migrants. Yes, more than 40 percent of the population of the Big Apple make it up migrants come from all corners of the world. It is estimated that our compatriots living in the area of New York and New Jersey range from 604 thousand and one million 200 thousand.

Now that Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) will participate in the UN Security Council meeting, talking about how to combat corruption and inequality in the world, it would be a good time to go around the city and talk with the Mexican community that lives there in different points of that metropolis. Rare, very rare that even in the face of the merriment and illusion of the migrants who are there and the organized pachanga Lopez Obrador He already said that he will not leave the UN headquarters and will not attend the party. Beyond the opinions about López Obrador, it is rude on their part towards the “good people” who live in NY not wanting to live with them.

In addition, he who loves to eat in inns and bars, will miss the equivalent of the “fritangas” that our countrymen sell in their food trucks. From the typical New York pretzel to unimaginable enchiladas. I do not even suggest going to the restaurant “Cosme” of the acclaimed and renowned Chef Enrique Olvera, as it would be branded as fifí… Too bad, Olvera is the best ambassador for our food beyond the Rio Grande.

But leaving Mexican-New York gastronomy aside, López Obrador clearly disdains migrants that live there. But it is not about the remittances that they send because then there he presumes them in his mornings as if they were his own achievements! This year it is expected that the money sent to our country by Mexicans living in the United States will be in the order of 50 billion dollars. Nor does AMLO want to live with them …

Why doesn’t López Obrador want to leave the UN building? He could well preside over the Security Council meeting, meet with Secretary General Antonio Guterres, and then go with the migrants. Sending them a video is putting them down.

And I don’t dare say that it is because he takes care of the presidential inauguration. After the bread that they put on his head or get out of his Suburban to greet the mother of “Chapo” who circulates in another similar vehicle, dance or eat a taco with those who had to leave their home to find a better life it would be the least.

Probably in his participation in the United Nations he will say that corruption and inequality in the world must be fought, which is true, but to give as an example what has been done in Mexico would be shameful.

His three years of his government have made Mexico one of the five most corrupt countries (it beats EPN in that area!) And has increased the number of poor people by a not inconsiderable few million Mexicans.

Hopefully he does not insist on selling the participants the ‘Sowing Death’ program and the thousands of hectares deforested thanks to it.

Let us pray that you do not emulate Hugo Chávez on the platform or talk to the world about peace, since in his six-year term there are more than 100,000 Mexicans killed by violence or the health system with pretense in Denmark, which is more like reality Ethiopian.

How good that he president of Mexico go to the UN and speak to the Security Council; We only wish (we ask the impossible): that he does not water it, that he does not tell lies and falsehoods, that he does not speak ill of any other country or person. Hopefully the migrants who live there do not resent their disdain and contempt; also not ashamed.
