America’s top military chief apologizes for posing alongside Donald Trump

Washington – The United States Chief Military Officer apologized today, Thursday, for walking alongside the President. Donald trump and his team through Lafayette Square Park to pose for photographs in combat uniform.

That walk from the White House to the church, where they were photographed, came after agents of security agencies dispersed peaceful protesters with gases and rubber bullets. The event occurred on June 1.

“I shouldn’t have been there,” Gen. Mark A. Milley, the chief of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, said in a prerecorded video, which was presented to graduates of the National Defense University.

He added that “my presence at that time and in that environment created a perception of the militia involved in domestic politics.”

“As a commissioned uniformed officer, it was a mistake I have learned from and I sincerely hope that we can all learn from this.”he added.

Miley’s remarks expose him to the wrath of a sensitive president to any glimpse of event criticism he has prepared.

Milley’s public expressions of regret emerge at moments of tension in the relationship between Pentagon and White House leaders over Trump’s threat to use federal troops to quell protests that erupted after the death of George Floyd.
