American players will stop broadcasting on networks until further notice

Mexico City. The América players who made live broadcasts through social networks every week have suspended them until further notice.

On Thursday, a couple of days after the club from the Mexican capital was eliminated in the semifinals of the Concacaf Champions Cup, Chilean defender Igor Lichnovsky announced that the aforementioned videos are suspended.

Lichnovsky, selected from his country, made these broadcasts together with full-back Kevin Álvarez and former player Miguel Layún, a group known on their social networks as the Triiisecta.

“We are responsible for stopping it out of respect for the situation, for what is happening,” Lichnovsky said during a live broadcast on his personal Instagram account. “No one has told us that we have to stop them, but it is a good idea not to continue with the streams.”

Lichnovsky has been an immovable starter this season and his performance has been outstanding throughout almost the entire tournament. Álvarez, who came to the team with high expectations, plays little and Brazilian coach André Jardine has had to enable center back Israel Reyes to play as a winger.

Álvarez was selected as a Mexican in Qatar 2020 and arrived at América for last year’s Apertura. Following this week’s elimination against his previous club Pachuca, the footballer had received harsh criticism from a group of commentators, who considered him more focused on social networks than on improving his performance.

“We are not married to anything, what we want is to connect the reality of the footballer with the fan and not get carried away by things that are not internal,” Lichnovsky added.

After being eliminated from CONCACAF, América has to focus on the local tournament where it awaits a rival for the quarterfinals that will take place next week.
