In a letter addressed to Flemish ministers Hilde Crevits and Zuhal Demir, American doctors express their concerns about the planned construction of the ethane cracker by the British chemical giant Ineos in the port of Antwerp, De Standaard reports. According to the doctors, the construction of this plant will lead to a major increase in shale gas extraction in the United States, which in turn will result in increased emissions of harmful chemicals. “This threatens not only clean air, but also all progress on the climate crisis,” it said.
