2 ‘of reading

The new Amazon distribution center in Colleferro, in the metropolitan city of Rome, has started its engines: from Monday 5 October it is officially operational. This is the sixth distribution center opened by Amazon in Italy and joins the sites of Castel San Giovanni, Passo Corese, Vercelli, Torrazza Piemonte and Castelguglielmo-San Bellino, the latter inaugurated on 21 September.

With the launch of this new distribution center, together with the one located in the province of Rovigo, Amazon has invested further 140 million euros in Italy, in addition to the 5.8 billion already invested in the country since its arrival in 2010.

Designed in the name of sustainability

The distribution center is a sustainable structure, which integrates energy saving systems reducing the environmental footprint thanks to reduced levels of emissions.

During the construction phase, sustainability principles and cutting-edge solutions were applied in this direction, such as the installation of solar panels for a total power of 2 MW, systems for reduction of energy consumption, LED lights for lighting, a system for cooling and heating environments with energy recovery, supply of hot water without the use of methane gas, windows and roofing materials that favor thethermal insulation.

The management system

The whole building is managed by the Bms, a system that allows intelligent management of the use and maintenance of the property. The building was built with the aim of achieving the Breeam (Building research establishment environmental assessment method) certification, obtaining the “Very Good” rating.
