Amazon releases new Fire HD 8 and 8 Plus with faster chip and more ram – Tablets and phones – News

Amazon has released a new version of the Fire HD 8 tablet. Among other things, the tablet gets a new, more powerful processor and more storage memory. There will also be a Plus variant of the device for the first time. The tablets are not released in the Netherlands.

The Fire HD 8 2020 is the tenth generation of Amazon’s proprietary tablet line. It is an upgrade from previous models. One of the main innovations is that the tablet gets a quadcore MediaTek MT8186 processor with a clock speed of 2GHz. The working memory also goes up to 2GB, and the tablet comes with 32 or 64GB of storage memory. This can be expanded with a micro-SD card.

Amazon is also releasing a Plus model of the tablet for the first time. It is not physically larger than the basic model; both have an eight-inch screen with a resolution of 1280 x 800. However, the Plus model with 3GB has more RAM, and the tablet can be charged wirelessly via Qi.

Both models support 801.11 a / b / g / n / ac wifi-5 and bluetooth 5 low energy. The devices both have a 3.5 millimeter port. The devices run on FireOS 7, a variant on Android 9.

The Fire HD 8 and Fire HD 8 Plus cost 90 and 110 dollars respectively, converted 83 and 101 euros. On the product page on Amazon states that the tablets are not shipped to the Netherlands.
