Amazon, the largest e-commerce company, is opening a physical clothing store. The first location of the so-called Amazon Style will be the suburbs of Los Angeles Glendale, and the store will open later this year, the company said.

It will offer women’s and men’s clothing, shoes and accessories from some well-known and new brands, and prices will attract buyers looking for cheaper and more luxurious goods, writes CNBC.

The area of ​​the store will be about 3,000 square meters – slightly smaller than the average department store.

Over the years, Amazon has gradually increased its clothing sales. Last March, Amazon overtook Walmart as the No. 1 clothing retailer in the United States, according to Wells Fargo, and sales of Amazon’s clothing and footwear in the United States rose approximately 15 percent in 2020 to more than $ 41 billion.

Amazon will introduce its shopping concept in physical clothing stores. To shop in the store, buyers will rely mostly on their smartphone, through which they will view the items.

When they enter the store, they will be able to see only some of the products – in one size and color of a particular item. The other sizes and types of each product will be stored in the back of the store. Once you enter the app on your smartphone, you need to scan the QR code of the item to see what sizes and colors it has, as well as what the ratings are for it from other buyers. They will be provided with other information such as personalized recommendations, etc.

This way we will offer more choice for customers without having to rummage through the shelves to find the right color and size, says Vasen.

After scanning the QR code of an item, buyers can with one button “send” it to the trial or directly at the checkout to buy it.

Amazon will have displays on trial that buyers can use to rate items or request another size, another item to be brought to the trial. Buyers will also have access to their in-store purchase history in the Amazon app.

Like other Amazon retail concepts, Style stores will combine online and offline shopping.

The company began entering physical retail when it opened a bookstore in 2015, then acquired the Whole Foods chain for $ 13.7 billion. It also has its own supermarket chain.
