Amazon is working on a live audio application which will allow users to own their own radio channel. Specifically, Project Mic, as the application is currently known, provides audio content creators with songs from the vast Amazon Music collection.
In addition to music, the programs will include culture, sports and comedy. Moreover, Amazon wants to bring celebrities to host shows and popularize the new application. The creators will be able to broadcast the show simultaneously on several devices: Amazon Music, Twitch, Audible and Alexa. With the latter, listeners will be able to interact with their favorite shows, even from the car.
For a start, the company decided to focus on the US market, although the official launch date has not been announced. Twitter, Facebook, Spotify and Discord have joined the live audio space in the last year, after Clubhouse exploded in popularity. However, the applications mentioned above tend to focus on live conversations, rather than streaming songs.
