AMA Käsekaiser: More award-winning cheeses than ever

The best gastronomy apprentices were awarded

Vienna (OTS) After the gala was suspended for two years, the AMA Käsekaiser could be presented again in person on November 10 this year. The Käsemeister convinced the jury with more winners than ever. For the second time, the best delicatessen apprentices in the food distribution sector were also awarded.

The coveted statues were again awarded in nine categories: cream cheese, soft cheese, semi-hard cheese, savory semi-hard cheese, spicy-strong semi-hard cheese, hard cheese up to five months and beyond, organic cheese and specialty cheeses. The best quality cheeses exported to Germany were evaluated in a separate category. The appearance, the consistency of the dough, the consistency, the smell and of course the taste were evaluated. A maximum of one hundred points can be awarded for each cheese. And this year there are more winners than ever, because the winners share first place in three categories. The jury meeting with around 80 jurors on the first day selected the 158 nominations, on the second day 13 dairy masters from Germany and abroad chose the 2023 winners for the abundance of quality and taste.

Quality manufacturing brings many winners

“We always experience surprises when we reward the best cheeses. But we have never had the same score in three categories and therefore different winners”, says an enthusiast Peter Hamedinger, Marketing Director of the AMA. This is not surprising, because we establish the highest quality production and produce excellent products. Cheese lovers especially benefit from the variety and quality of the best cheeses. Winners can now use the AMA Käsekaiser award for their marketing for one year, making their award-winning product easily recognizable by consumers.

Austrian cheese is particularly popular in Germany. For this reason, the best Austrian cheese in Germany was also awarded. The most important export cheeses took part in the competition and the Guilde Internationale of the Fromagers Club Germany chose an Export Käsekaiser from them.

Make the experience of local dairies visible

“The Käsekaiser AMA is a tribute to the work, knowledge and skills of our local dairy industry. Our consumers appreciate their products and wide selection far beyond the country’s borders”, they congratulate them. Michele BlasCEO of AMA Marketing, the winners of the AMA Käsekaiser.

Competition cheese counter for AMA apprentices

Thanks to last year’s great success, the AMA apprenticeship competition took place again this year. 158 apprentices in the food retail sector in the delicatessen sector have demonstrated considerable specialist competence in multi-stage competition.

In the first phase, the apprentice’s online quiz was about technical knowledge. The best candidates were able to show their practical skills in sensory analysis and cheese presentation at the federal finals in Bad Ischl. Pawel Orschulik, an apprentice at Spar Gourmet in Vienna Landstrasse, emerged as the winner of this competition.
