Alzheimer’s and the Corona virus … What is their relationship?

Followed – Samah Ismail

A new study was conducted at Vagelos College in the state of Columbia where experts and scientists focused on discovering the link between Alzheimer’s and the Corona virus. After noticing changes in the brains of 10 people who died after being infected with the Corona virus.

What the experts found was the hyperphosphorylation of microtubules in the brains of these patients. This excess is often associated with an advanced stage of Alzheimer’s disease.

Commenting on this finding, the head of that college’s department of cellular physiology and biophysics, Andrew Marks, said the findings indicate that those who have been severely infected with the Corona virus may be more likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease in the future during the them all their life.

In his statements, he stressed the need to conduct further research and studies on the relationship between Alzheimer’s and Corona to achieve more specific findings on this matter.

For its part, the results of the study were also published in the Journal of Alzheimer’s and dementia, but stressed the need to do more research on this topic, especially since it was only conducted on ten people. In addition, he cited some possible explanations for the memory problems of those recovering from Corona who reported these symptoms they experience, without them being directly related to Alzheimer’s disease.
