Always a Helmet: Protecting Lives and Raising Awareness for Head Protection

A few days ago, President Petr Pavel got the nation off their seats when he rode off on a motorcycle without a helmet. Sports presenter Kateřina Nekolná created the project Always a helmet, with which she tries to point out that people should always wear head protection when riding bicycles or scooters. The campaign was also supported by well-known celebrities who even took off their clothes.

Kateřina Nekolná decided to appeal that people wear helmets when riding bicycles, skates, motorcycles or scooters. “If you rub an unprotected part of your body when you fall on a bicycle or in-line, it hurts. If you break a leg or an arm, it hurts. But if you fall with your unprotected head on concrete or a stone, it can have fatal consequences,” explained the sports presenter in an interview for iSport.

The reason for the intrusion of the whole project was a family tragedy near Nekolná. Her father died just a year ago from an injury caused by a fall while riding a bicycle without head protection. It is not surprising that the beauty decided to inform the wider public about this problem.

In addition, the project was supported by a number of celebrities and colleagues from the industry, who even threw away their clothes because of the campaign.

It can have fatal consequences

I hope this project saves at least one single life. I wish there were more. The mistake is that if you rent, for example, a scooter, then a helmet k to that difficult to get, because it is not an obligation that is subject to the law. But anyway, it’s more about a certain person’s priorities. Everyone should think about whether it is worth risking their own life on roads without a life-giving helmet,” Kateřina Nekolná said about her project in an interview for Blesk.

A cyclist has a nineteen times greater risk of dying when falling without a helmet than a cyclist with head protection.

The awareness campaign is also considered beneficial by a number of celebrities, including Robert Záruba, Eva Decastelo, Ester Janečková, Barbora Černošková, Nela Boudová or Michal Krčmář.
