After a tough start to the season, Loic Meillard has really got going in the past few weeks – after finishing second in Garmisch in the giant slalom, the 23-year-old clinched his first World Cup victory at the parallel giant in Chamonix on February 9th.

In order to acclimatize optimally before the next World Cup races in Niigata Yuzawa Naeba, Loic, together with slalom specialist Tanguy Nef, flew to Tokyo four days before the rest of the team.

After landing in the capital, the two Romands went into the mountains to ski in deep snow. But this pleasure ended painfully for Meillard. What happened?

In the event of a fall, the two-year-old brother from Melanie’s injured slalom hope suffered a larger wound to the side of the shoe edge. The wound had to be sewn. It is therefore uncertain whether our giant hope will start in the giant slalom on Saturday. “We will make a decision by Friday afternoon,” says Swiss Ski trainer Helmut Krug to Blick.ch.

After the giant, a slalom is on the program in Niigata Yuzawa Naeba on Sunday.
