Almost nine hundred people in southern Bohemia now have covid-19, with 123 more cases over the weekend

Over the weekend, hygienists in southern Bohemia recorded 123 newly confirmed cases of coronavirus infection SARS-CoV-2. The cumulative number of patients diagnosed with COVID-19 thus increased to 1,651 in the region by 6 pm on Sunday. There are now 752 cured in South Bohemia and 889 currently positive. Almost 4.5 thousand people passed the tests in a week.

From Saturday to Sunday evening, laboratories received 581 suspected samples and three samples from self-payers for examination in the region. From the examined samples, the hygienists confirmed 86 positive by Saturday at 6 pm. Forty women and forty-six men joined the patients. Most new cases were added in the České Budějovice (33) and Tábor (28) regions. “In twenty-two cases, it was contact with a confirmed case in the family and in ten at the workplace. Twenty-eight contacts were school. Two people became infected in Prague, three during a treatment stay in Františkovy Lázně, two in Karlovy Vary and one in Austria. Three cases concern various sports clubs and eight junior teams of HC Motor České Budějovice. In seven cases, we are still finding out the origin of the infection, “said the director of the Regional Hygiene Station of the South Bohemian Region, Kvetoslava Kotrbová.

Of the current 889 active cases of COVID-19 in southern Bohemia, 338 are currently registered in the České Budějovice region, 182 in the Tábor region, 96 in the Písek region, 83 in the Strakonice region, 76 in the Český Krumlov region, 67 in the Prachatice region and 47 in the Jindřichův Hradec region. Ten patients died of coronavirus infection. In terms of relative incidence, ie in the number of positive cases recalculated per 100 thousand inhabitants of the region, southern Bohemia, with 256.33 patients per 100 thousand inhabitants (as of Sunday 6 pm), together with the Hradec Králové and Ústí regions, belongs to the three regions with the lowest overall incidence of COVID-19 in the Czech Republic.

“A total of 38,152 people have been indicated for examination in southern Bohemia due to suspected COVID-19 disease. There were 598 people in the mandatory quarantine at 6 pm on Sunday. The number of examined self-payers in the region increased by three on Sunday to a total of 7,315, “stated Jitka Luňáčková, an epidemiologist at the South Bohemian KHS.

In southern Bohemia, self-payers can currently be tested at the sampling points of all South Bohemian hospitals, with the exception of České Budějovice. In the regional city, they will find a sampling point in the Synlab laboratories in U tří lvů Street. The Nextclinics laboratory is again testing self-payers in a tent at the main entrance to the exhibition grounds in Husova Street. Samples are taken without prior order from Monday to Thursday, always from 8 am to 2 pm. Synlab is also testing in Český Krumlov and now also in České Budějovice’s Vrbenská Street in the PCO complex. The collection point for indicated cases in the České Budějovice hospital has been moved to a multi-storey car park for the public, which is located at the main entrance to the hospital. It is open on weekdays from 6.30 am to 2 pm. There are now a total of 12 sampling points in the region.
