Almost 1.3 million Slovaks could be tested on Saturday

The second round of surface testing takes place at almost 3,000 sampling points and the event is provided by 20,000 people, paramedics, members of the army and police.

Pilot testing with antigen tests took place on October 23-25 ​​in four northern districts, and the first round of screening throughout Slovakia took place on October 31 and November 1. The first round was attended by 3.6 million people. The second round of screening was ordered in the districts, where the proportion of positive testers was over 0.7 percent.

Test theft

The Minister of Defense informed that on the night from Saturday to Sunday, a collection point in the northern Slovak town of Tvrdošín was stolen. “The perpetrator stole 750 antigen tests, 20 overalls, 20 respirators and 350 gloves,” Naď said.

The Minister emphasized that the perpetrators did not get the certificates issued to the test persons because they were stored in another room. “I believe that the perpetrator will be tracked down and given a well-deserved punishment, which increases significantly in times of emergency,” Naď added.

In Slovakia, they recorded 1,828 new cases of covid-19 on Saturday using PCR tests. There are 1,453 patients in hospitals with confirmed covid-19, of which 119 in the ICU and 110 in pulmonary ventilation. A total of 75,495 people have been tested positive by PCR tests in the country so far, and 351 people have died in the country since the beginning of the pandemic.
