Alleged Extortion Complaint Against KPK Prosecutor TI Triggers Investigation

The KPK Supervisory Board (Dewas) received a complaint of alleged extortion KPK prosecutor initials TI. Head of KPK News, Ali Fikri, said that his party would immediately check the complaint.

“We will immediately check the existence of the complaint and the results of all follow-up processes at the KPK Council,” said Ali Fikri to journalists, Friday (29/3/2024).

Ali asked all parties to respect the current process. He reminded that this information was only a complaint which had to be proven true.

“Let’s continue to respect the ongoing process, both at the Dewas, for action and for the prevention of the Corruption Eradication Commission by not leading other opinions, because this information is still in the form of a complaint whose substance must be proven,” he said.

“We certainly appreciate every public report as part of our concern for allegations of corruption in the surrounding area, and we are committed to carrying out an in-depth investigation to ensure the truth of the information,” he added.

Ali also appealed to the public to remain vigilant if there are parties claiming to be from the KPK and promising something related to resolving cases handled by the KPK. Ali invited the public to report via the KPK call center at number 198 or the nearest law enforcement agency if they discovered this incident.

The KPK Council previously received a complaint regarding a KPK prosecutor with the initials TI who was suspected of committing extortion. The IT prosecutor is suspected of extorting Rp. 3 billion from the witness.

“It’s true, the complaint came from Dewas,” said one source detikcomWednesday (27/3).

After that, Dewas is said to have forwarded the complaint to the Corruption Eradication Commission. The information obtained stated that the prosecutor was blackmailing a witness regarding one of the cases being investigated by the Corruption Eradication Commission. The prosecutor allegedly used the money for personal needs.

“It has been handed over to the investigation to be followed up,” said the source.

The KPK Council has also confirmed the existence of complaints of alleged extortion. It is suspected that the extortion was carried out by the KPK prosecutor who extorted Rp. 3 billion from the witness.

The KPK Council said the complaint had been forwarded to the Deputy for Enforcement and Deputy for Prevention at the KPK.

“It is true that Dewas received the complaint in question and after processing it according to the POB at Dewas, it has been forwarded with an official note dated December 6 2023, to the Deputy for Enforcement and the Deputy for Prevention to be followed up according to the authority and applicable regulations, with a copy to the KPK leadership,” said KPK Dewas member Albertina Ho told reporters, Friday (29/3).
