PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM) has finally officially launched the All New Toyota Avanza and All New Toyota Veloz. The two MPVs, nicknamed the car of a million people, come with the latest generation. Now, Avanza enters the third generation. The price of the All New Toyota Avanza starts at Rp. 206 million. So how much is the most expensive?
The third generation Toyota Avanza and Veloz come with the latest platforms. Now, the Toyota Avanza carries front wheel drive or front wheel drive (FWD), completely changing from the previous generation Avanza which relies on rear wheel drive, rear wheel drive (RWD).
The appearance of the Toyota Avanza and Veloz has changed completely. It looks like the latest generation Avanza and Veloz carry a combination of SUV and MPV designs.

According to the President Director of PT Toyota-Astra Motor, Susumu Matsuda, the Toyota Avanza has become a global model developed in Indonesia. He said, the All New Avanza and All New Veloz are designed to represent a new era of mobility that not only provides comfort but also provides a sense of fun while driving.
“We hope that the All New Avanza and All New Veloz can support people’s mobility, especially in Indonesia and continue their legacy as part of the greatness of Indonesia,” said Matsuda-san at the virtual launch of the All New Toyota Avanza and All New Toyota Veloz, Wednesday (10/11). /2021).
In terms of appearance, the All New Toyota Avanza has a trapezoidal grille design like the Toyota Corolla Cross SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle). The All New Toyota Veloz puts forward a sporty look with a honeycomb grille. While the All New Toyota Avanza comes with a horizontal grille. The lights are even more narrow with LED light technology.

The side view has also been overhauled. Now, the All New Toyota Avanza and All New Toyota Veloz appear more modern from the side. The wheels look cooler. This new Avanza also looks taller because it adopts a larger rim size. And the D pillar is made in the style of a floating roof.
When viewed from behind, the shape of the rear glass and the design of the rear trunk door is quite similar to the Toyota Sienna. But in this latest Avanza the shape is more boxy like an SUV style. The taillights are identical to the shape of the Raize taillights, whose brake lights are integrated into the reflector.
The All New Toyota Avanza and All New Toyota Veloz are offered with a choice of 1,300 cc and 1,500 cc engines. Transmission options are manual and automatic. The difference is, for the automatic transmission, the Avanza and Veloz now come with a CVT or Continuously Variable Transmission, so they are claimed to operate more smoothly without jerking when shifting gears.

“The combination of high-efficiency engine performance and the latest CVT transmission will give the impression of a powerful driving and best-in-class fuel efficiency,” said Eiji Fujibayashi, Chief Engineer of Avanza.
Not only changing its appearance, Toyota also embeds a variety of advanced features on the All New Toyota Avanza and All New Toyota Veloz. Now, the car of a million people is equipped with Toyota Safety Sense technology. In Indonesia, Toyota has introduced this TSS system in the Toyota Raize. The TSS feature is equipped with camera technology and laser sensors. The TSS system is designed to reduce hazards while driving.
“We have also paid special attention to safety features. Class-leading advanced features such as TSS are also available, offering peace of mind for our customers,” said Fujibayashi.
The TSS in this car includes Pre-collision warning and braking features, lane departure warning and prevention, lane keeping control, automatic high beam, adaptive driving beam, and front departure alert.
Another feature in this new Avanza is the electric parking brake or Electric Parking Brake (EPB). So, there is no parking brake lever on the center console, to activate the parking brake, just press the EPB button which is located near the gear.

According to the Marketing Director of PT TAM Anton Jimmi Suwandy, the prices above apply on the road in Jakarta. The price includes PPnBM incentives which are valid until December 2021.
“Prices are still using the PPnBM incentive scheme. We will see in January what kind of changes we are still waiting for,” said Anton.
