All Fire Hotspots in Bromo, East Java Successfully Extinguished After 6 Days

The Malang Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) said there were all fire hotspots in the area Bromo, East Java has been blacked out. The fire was successfully extinguished after the land had been burning for 6 days.

Reported detikJatim, Head of Emergency and Logistics for Malang Regency, Sadono Irawan, explained that water bombing to extinguish fires on Mount Bromo was carried out hundreds of times since Bromo burned. He said the hotspots in the Bromo area in Malang, Probolinggo and Pasuruan had been extinguished.

“Tonight, the existing fires have been successfully extinguished. Including the one in Pasuruan,” said Sadono to detikJatim, Monday (11/9/2023).

Previously, at around 14.30 WIB, Head of the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (BB TNBTS) Hendro Wijanarko stated that there were still several fires scattered around.

“There were two fire points. Then there was also smoke in the Jemplang to Watu Gede area,” he said when met by media crew at the Jemplang post on Monday afternoon.

Fire on the mountain Bromo itself started on Wednesday 6 September 2023 due to pre-wedding activities using flares on Teletubbies Hill, Bromo. The fire then spread to and burned other areas.
